Amway is possibly the best known company in the network marketing industry. Why? Because they have been around for 52 years and have millions of distributors in their organization. If you are reading this, chances are you are currently an Amway representative or looking to join the company.

Before I continue, let it be known that I am not associated with this company. My goal is to provide an unbiased third-party review of the organization, leadership, products, and compensation plan.

The Amway Organization and Leadership

Amway was founded 52 years ago when it offered its original product known as LOC (Liquid Organic Cleaner). Today, Amway is one of the largest network marketing companies in the world, operating in more than 80 countries and territories. In 1959, Jay Van Andel and Rich DeVos founded the Amway Corporation.

The current president is Doug Devos, who oversees the day-to-day operations of the company. Doug is the youngest son of Rich DeVos. He participates in numerous organizations, including the World Federation Direct Selling Association, the National Constitution Center and Business Leaders for Michigan. Steve Van Andel is the current President and has been since 1995. He is the eldest son of Jay Van Andel and served as Vice President of Amway before taking over as President.

Currently, the organization is involved with several well-known charities including Easter Seals, Boys and Girls Club, US Dream Academy, and SOS Children’s Village. In addition to making large annual donations to the charities listed above, Amway also helps children in Haiti.

Amway Products – What do they sell?

Amway has a very large product portfolio. This should be expected from a company that is 52 years old. Its family of brands includes Nutrilite, Artistry, eSpring, ATMOSPHERE, iCook and SATINQUE.

Products found within these families range from dietary supplements to cookware. Amway Independent Business Owners certainly shouldn’t have an excuse that they don’t have enough products to sell. The Amway portfolio is one of the most diversified portfolios offered by any network marketing company.

This can be good or bad for IBOs. It’s good because IBOs have a wide variety of products to sell. However, I think this may also be a bad thing. I always believe that IBOs are more successful if they focus on one product line or one product.

Should you join?

Amway has an incredibly strong foundation and some of the best leaders in the network marketing industry. They have a very diversified product line and a lucrative compensation plan. As with any network marketing opportunity, your success will largely depend on your ability to promote yourself and yourself online.
