In Tibetan monasteries, every five years, the “Hall of 1000 demons” is made available to monks in training. To obtain enlightenment (nirvana), all you have to do is enter the room and exit the other side. However, once in the room, the entrance door cannot be opened from the inside and they have to cross the room and exit through the exit door.

The problem is that inside the room there are 1000 demons, each of which knows what your worst fear is. For example, if you hate spiders, once in the room you will find yourself among 1000 of the worst spiders imaginable.

Once this is explained to them, most monks decide not to go through this process. The elders dismiss them and advise them to return to the monastery to study a little more and in another five years they will have the opportunity to pass through the room.

To the remaining monks, and admittedly a small number, the elders congratulate them on their bravery and are taken aside. The head monk advises the following:

“You know that to achieve everything you have studied and meditated on, you must go through the Room of 1000 Demons. You have been told why the room is called that. I congratulate you on your courage and I suggest that once you take two things into account. the door closes behind you in the room:

(1) None of the demons are real,

Y,

(2) Keep moving your feet. “
