Webkinz, Lil Kinz, Zumbuddy and especially now Signature Webkinz have become quite popular. With only about 5 years under her belt, she’s become a big deal and to think she hasn’t even been a huge success for all that time. If you’re the parent of someone who has become obsessed with them or even if you’re the one who is now obsessed with it, you’re not alone and you’ll want to argue that it surely hasn’t been that brief.

Ganz had started to retire some of his webkinz, but he definitely realized it’s a much bigger problem. There are now hundreds of current webkinz and they typically issue 4 regular size webkinz and 3 Signature Webkinz each month. They have started to realize their mistakes as they have tried to remove one every week for the last month, it doesn’t solve the problem, but it allows the current webkinz to multiply. This still leaves the opportunity to mass retire a bunch of them as I see them doing. Part of this depends on how much stock they have. They have done a much better job of not producing too many that sit in the reserve for months on end. Retired Webkinz can still be adopted and your secret code will still work with the Webkinz World website. This means that the entire company will no longer produce or sell particular webkinz. But it’s a really big thing for collectors, as people will continue to find these webkinz to use on their accounts, to get even more out of the market.

As with any investment, supply and demand determine the value of Webkinz. What makes them stand out is that they are not just stuffed animals but also provide games and entertainment for a while for kids and kids at heart. Some have really skyrocketed in a short amount of time due to their limited existence for one reason or another. It’s true that most people tend to buy them as soon as they come out rather than wait unless their wish list is too long, which may be the case.

For example, consider that the retired Cheeky Dog Webkinz retailed for around $11.99. You can’t even buy just the stuffed animal for that anymore, since that alone has sold for over $100. Think about whether you were smart enough to keep it in great condition with the code still attached. You can easily sell them for $400 or more if not $1000. Now take a step back and really think about it. You can buy a real dog for less than that. Of course, that doesn’t include caring for the dog, but the virtual dog/stuffed animal requires nothing more than a safe place to house it, which is minimal. Obviously, not all of them are as high as the cheeky dog returns, but there is plenty of earning potential available. You’ve got the Cheeky Cat webkinz which sells for about half as much and the Love Puppy webkinz in particular has made a huge leap and always jumps again come Valentine’s Day. Even taking a look at other Webkinz, in just a few months you can see your Webkinz like Eagle or Chipmunk fetching $30 or more, already more than double what you paid for it. Even one of the most recent Sea Otter Webkinz retirees jumped a few bucks after retirement.

Lil Kinz Webkinz is at a unique point right now. Signature webkinz, Zumbuddy webkinz and regular webkinz have caught the interest of many consumers, but not many seem to realize that they aren’t making more lil kinz unless of course you read our article on this before. It’s almost like buying penny stocks in that you don’t know if it’s going to multiply by the ton or disappear. The chances of them going away are slim, but when you can buy them for $8, there’s not much to lose.

Speaking of Signature Webkinz, those have been the biggest winners since they’ve sold for $25, but the problem is that retailers can only get 6 of them at a time per month unless they have hookups. With the way that they are so soft in nature, real and bigger too, they have been a huge success. I mean look at the Golden Retriever Signature webkinz (full size, not the little golden retriever signature webkinz) which is now fetching close to $200 in about a year. Many of the others are quickly gaining steam as supply has been small to begin with and if more do not come to market it will only increase in value. The downside to this is the big upfront costs because to pick up 4 of them, you’re easily paying over $100, so it’s not a silly change.

So if it were an exact science, a lot of people would buy all the right Webkinz and become rich. Some have already become quite rich simply by buying low and selling high or at least holding on for a while. It certainly far exceeds the interest on a savings account, but you have to be patient. So even if this extreme excitement does not continue, you can still earn a pretty penny. The quality of the new Webkinz is amazing and supplies have still been limited and don’t forget many of these kids have younger brothers and sisters and will have children. Even parents get involved to play with them online. So Ty, the creator of Beanie Babies, just recently turned 20, but there’s so much more to Webkinz than beanies. You will not be disappointed if only to interact with your little ones. That’s worth more than a ton of money because they won’t be little forever. Enjoy them while you can!
